dck media provides certified digital education for healthcare professionals across Germany, supporting mandatory and ongoing training through structured online learning. With a growing number of users and organizational partners, the platform became a core product rather than a simple content delivery tool.
Originally built on Moodle, the system struggled with fragmented user management, limited customization, and rising infrastructure costs. As a long-term engineering partner, we helped dck media transition to a fully custom LMS and LRS platform that consolidates operations, improves usability, and provides full control over data and analytics.

Building a platform that scales without rising operational costs
The objective was to replace an off-the-shelf LMS with a custom platform capable of supporting dck media’s rapidly growing user base across healthcare organizations, while significantly reducing infrastructure and maintenance costs.
Key objectives included consolidating fragmented user experiences into a single system, enabling white-label deployments for partners, introducing advanced analytics with full data ownership, and building an architecture designed to scale reliably toward 100,000+ users.

Outgrowing a platform not designed for scale
As dck media scaled its healthcare education offering, Moodle’s rigid architecture began working against the business. Users were forced to manage multiple accounts across different environments, certificates were scattered, and the interface proved challenging for older healthcare professionals.
At the same time, platform maintenance costs increased steadily due to third-party dependencies and infrastructure inefficiencies. Without deeper control over the system, dck media faced rising costs, limited customization options, and reduced flexibility to support future growth.
